Aduki Diet Review

The Aduki Diet is advertised as an appetite suppressing plan that involves the taking of Aduki Diet pills. The company offers two different strengths for you to take – Aduki Light slimming tablets and Aduki Extra. The official site recommends you to take the stronger dosage, but that if you have under a stone to lose, Aduki light will probably suffice.

Claimed weight loss benefits

The manufacturers of Aduki Diet claim that it works as an appetite suppressant.

How Aduki Diet Works

The makers claim the Aduki Diet can help you lose between three and five pounds each week. The Aduki Diet website states that the pills help to “control and prevent inappropriate eating behavior” therefore “Your calorie intake will drop by up to 50%, retraining you eating habits”. These claims are not backed by any scientific evidence. It supposedly works by simply suppressing your appetite, which, if true, should help you to eat less and so lose weight if combined with regular exercise and a healthy diet.

The theory behind Aduki Diet is that eating less should help you to lose weight; however, whether Aduki Diet pills can help you to eat less is not proven. It uses the main ingredient, Adzuki beans, to try to suppress the appetite. It asks you to take one capsule just before breakfast and another at lunch; you’re also permitted to take an extra tablet if you need an extra helping hand. It is important to note that the amount of the ingredients that go into the pills is not revealed.

Azuki Bean

The Azuki bean is often turned into a red paste when it is boiled with sugar and is then included in many recipes as a sweetener in Japan. The bean is very popular over there; Pepsi Japan even released an Azuki bean flavoured drink. Although the Azuki bean is a good source of both fibre and minerals, it is not used as a dietary “wonder ingredient” anywhere in the world.

Lotus Leaf

Lotus leaf is often claimed to have many health benefits, although the majority of these claims lack scientific backing. Obtained from the lotus plant, lotus leaf is sometimes said to boost weight loss by increasing fat burning. Evidence for this potential effect is severely limited.

Green Tea

Green tea, obtained from the Camellia sinensis plant, is also believed to help with the treatment of a great range of conditions. The catechins in green tea, such as EGCG, as well as its caffeine, are believed to help contribute towards fat burning and metabolism boosting.

Key Aduki Diet Ingredients

Featured in Aduki Diet pills are Adzuki beans, green tea, lotus leaves, radish seeds and Poria. No amounts of each ingredient are revealed. Nothing is mentioned about the difference between Aduki Light and Aduki Extra either, with no information on any different ingredients, effects or ingredient amounts.

Adzuki Beans

The key ingredient is Adzuki beans, also pronounced as Aduki, and these are usually found in East Asia and in the Himalayas. The beans are high in fibre and so can apparently help regular bowel movements. Evidence about any weight loss linked to this ingredient seems to be slim to none.

Clinical Studies

Clinical Researcher 538

No reference to clinical studies is made on the official Aduki diet pill website, and a literature review does not reveal any studies that have been performed on the product as a whole. Few studies are available for its key ingredients either. Clinical studies are used to test the potential effects of a product or ingredient, as well as its safety.

Azuki Bean

A study carried out by the Department of Food Science from Obihiro University in Japan tested the effectiveness of the Azuki bean in preventing weight gain in a high fat diet.

Despite the fact the study was carried out on medical mice, the group still came to the conclusion that the “azuki bean extract has high potential to serve as a natural anti-obesity agent”. Potential is the key word in that conclusion, it may suggest that the Azuki bean extract can help with weight control but just how much of that extract makes it into the Aduki diet pill is unknown and whether the extract has the same effects on humans is unknown.

Aduki Diet Side Effects

Woman With Stomach Ache 538

No side effects are mentioned on the official Aduki Diet website and when we attempted to contact them we received no response. Since no clinical studies have been undertaken on the product as a whole, we cannot state with any certainty what side effects may occur. It is possible to determine some of the possible effects by looking at the individual ingredients in the product, although it should be noted that the company behind the product does not provide ingredient quantities.

Green Tea

Although generally considered to be safe for consumption, green tea does contain caffeine and so may cause associated side effects. These include: anxiety, nervousness, jitteriness, headaches, nausea and insomnia. In high doses, caffeine can also cause high blood pressure and increased heart rate. In rare cases, high quantities of green tea taken in the long term has been said to cause liver damage.

How to Use

Woman With Pills 538

The recommended dosage is 1 tablet with breakfast followed by another with lunch; however those hoping to lose more weight or those who have a larger appetite to curb can take two tablets with one of those meals.

The pills do not have a period of time that you should take them for meaning you can stop whenever you like, either you have reached your target weight or perhaps the pills aren’t working for you. The pills are mostly natural ingredients, though it should be remembered that this does not mean that they will be safe and side-effect-free.

In order to get the most out of the product and to help with weight control, most dietary pills should be considered as a supplement, meaning that when taken it should be accompanied by a healthy diet and a good amount of exercise

Who Makes It?

The Aduki Diet seemingly works in a similar way to companies such as Avon, in that there is a main manufacturer who supplies a number of stockists who then sell on the tablets. There appears to be a number of stockists who have set up promotional sites filled with testimonials, FAQs, Ingredients lists and contact details. However these contact details do not get you any closer to answering the question of who makes the pills.

When we tried to get in touch with Abby Allen, who owns and runs the website, to ask where their pills were manufactured she asked us whether we would rather write an article on the Lotus light tablets advertised on their site and then told us that all information regarding the Aduki Diet was on their website. When we reminded her that the manufacturers details were not available on their website she said, “we do not need to disclose that information”.

The main product website sells the product at £65 for 60 pills which should last for around 1-2 months depending on whether you take 2 tablets at meal time or just 1. These prices don’t include the price of the 1st class, tracked royal mail delivery to anywhere in the UK, which can vary, however delivery is free when you purchase more than one product. There is also an offer for customers who have been recommended by a friend of 10%.
