Reduline 36 Review

The makers of this product claim that users can lose up to 3kg in the space of just 6 to 8 weeks and help lower your cholesterol as well as weight. It contains just one key ingredient that is thought to aid weight loss through binding fat – chitosan. Results of studies on the ingredient have been mixed and inconclusive.

Claimed weight loss benefits

Reduline 36 is claimed to be a fat binding diet pill thanks to its key active ingredient, chitosan.

How Reduline 36 Works

The official website claims that Reduline 36 “soaks up fat like a sponge and makes sure it leaves the body without being absorbed.” Based in the United Kingdom, this company asserts that Reduline 36 can assist in a weight loss of about 3 kg in about 6 to 8 weeks, as mentioned on its official website. Effectively it is advertised as a fat absorber that binds to fat particles, making them too large to digest and instead the body passes them straight out of your body through excretion.

The makers claim it is clinically tested and that you are able to lose a lot of weight. However, the tests on the product don’t appear to have been on how effective it is on weight loss. The trials on the only ingredient, chitosan, which are mentioned on the official website only reveal that most of the volunteers in the trials saw significant weight loss in a 12 week study. It doesn’t mention how much Chitosan was taken to achieve this or the diets/starting weight of those involved.

Reduline only has one active ingredient, called Chitosan. Its name is derived from chitin, and it constitutes the exoskeleton of seafood items such as crabs and shrimps. Chitosan is believed to be a dietary fat binder, and hence responsible for the fat binding role that Reduline 36 is believed to possess. It is believed that as a soluble dietary fibre, chitosan assists in slowing down the emptying of the stomach, thus increasing the interval times at which one eats and giving one a more full feeling and hence a lesser need to eat as opposed to otherwise. It is also believed that it modifies the production and secretion of bile acid, hence reducing the absorption of fats. Studies are currently underway to discuss the effectiveness of chitosan as a fat binder, and at this point offer mixed views.

Key Reduline 36 Ingredients

molecular 538

There is only one ingredient in Reduline 36 and this is chitosan – a substance that is usually extracted from the exoskeleton of shellfish. It is this ingredient that is claimed to work as a fat binder to aid weight loss.

This originally comes from shrimp and crabs and is quite a popular diet pill ingredient because of its claimed herbal fat binding ability. Chitosan. has had a number of clinical tests conducted on it and they have proven quite inconclusive as a lot have had very mixed results in terms of weight loss. These will be discussed in more detail in the section below. Chitosan is the only ingredient in Reduline 36 and is featured in a reasonable quantity (500mg).

Clinical Studies

Clinical Researcher 538

The official website of Reduline 36 notes how the weight loss supplement is a “Class III medically approved product and is clinically proven to help with losing weight.” Whether or not this is true remains unclear. The product itself does not appear to be clinically proven, though the key ingredient has been subject to some scientific testing.

The official website of Reduline 36 contains quotes from doctors concerning the clinical validity of the supplement. For instance: “Fourteen trials involving a total of 1071 participants were included in our review of Reduline 36. Analyses involving all trials indicated that chitosan preparations result in a small but statistically significant greater reduction in body weight compared with placebo.” Similarly, another extract mentions how volunteers showed considerable weight loss over a study that administered the pills over 12 weeks.

However, the manufacturers do not provide any details to these clinical trials and we were unable to locate them in the scientific literature. There is no means by which one can access and review the details of the clinical trials, suggesting that they have not been published by a scientific journal and as such, might be biased and unreliable.

Chitosan, the prime active ingredient in Reduline 36 has mixed results associated with it. A study on the effectiveness of Chitosan as a fat binder involved 15 participants who were administered over 12 days. They were each provided five meals a day with a Chitosin dosage of 4.5 g per day. The results showed that fat absorption during this period was almost negligible, even though the study administered more chitosan per day than the amount recommended by the manufacturers of Reduline 36.

Another study involving 34 participants administered Chitosan over a period of 28 days. At the end of the study, it was discovered that the body mass of the participants who were administered Chitosan was the same as those that were administered the placebo, thus shedding doubt on the claims of weight loss associated with Chitosan.

Reduline 36 Side Effects

Woman With Stomach Ache 538

Chitosan is the only active ingredient present in Reduline 36. The manufacturers of Reduline 36 claim that the pills are entirely free of side effects. However, Chitosan has got some side effects associated with it. Side effects from taking Reduline 36 are likely to be minimal, but as it is advertised as a fat binder, you should be aware of the risk of experiencing stomach pain, constipation or diarrhoea as side effects.

It is believed that Chitosan is safe if taken up to a period of 6 months, but could potentially cause problems if the intake continues after that. For instance, WebMD asserts that chitosan, particularly if taken through the mouth, which is the case for Reduline 36, can result in nausea, stomach upset and constipation. It can also potentially result in headaches, and swelling of the heels and wrists.

Chitosan is derived from the exoskeleton of seafood such as crabs and shrimps as aforementioned. It is therefore possible that those who are allergic to seafood could also exhibit allergic responses to Reduline 36. Another issue is that not much can be delved about the use of chitosan when pregnant or breastfeeding. It would hence be advisable to stay away from Reduline 36 when either pregnant or breast feeding.
