A study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry in 2002 also found that Sacha Inchi contains an unusually high concentration of ‘tryptophan’ – an amino acid that is essential in the production of serotonin which is a nervous-system chemical involved in the regulation of the appetite.

Therefore, in theory Sacha Inchi should promote weight loss to some degree by increasing the production of serotonin and thus suppressing the appetite, which in turn should reduce food intake. However, it is important to keep in mind that this is simply conjecture based on current findings and other factors may be in play that might make it the case that Sacha Inchi does not have any tangible weight loss properties.

Chia

Ultimately, there have only been two clinical trials examining heart health and body weight in association with Chia seed consumption, with only one showing some beneficial heart effects but neither showing any weight loss properties. The lack of evidence for Chia seeds makes any claim that it is a super-food that can supplement weight loss redundant, although it should still be taken into account that Chia seeds are a good addition to a healthy and balanced diet and can in fact be used as a much healthier alternative to processed grain like white bread.
