XLS Medical Appetite Reducer Review

One of XLS Medical Appetite Reducer’s key claims is that it is an all-natural product that will reduce the appetite of users, stop their cravings and even curb compulsive eating habits. It contains just one key ingredient, a fibrous substance that is obtained from the konjac plant.

Claimed weight loss benefits

XLS Medical Appetite Reducer is claimed to help to suppress the appetite through the action of its key ingredient. The substance is thought to expand in the stomach, making the user feel fuller for longer.

How XLS Medical Appetite Reducer Works

woman wondering how diet pill works 538

The product is claimed to cause you to feel full after eating and controls your appetite when you feel hungry. It supposedly achieves this through gastric enlargement. Consuming the compound supposedly makes the contents of your stomach increase, which in turn is said to reduce the amount of food you can comfortably consume.

The feelings of fullness and appetite control are also thought to be aided by delaying of gastric emptying. Food purportedly remains in your stomach longer, which in turn might help to balance body glucose levels. This might prevent peaks and troughs in blood sugar levels and could reduce the chances of an energy crash after a large meal. When this happens you are likely to reach for a sugary snack to boost your levels. While taking the supplement, these issues with glucose levels might be avoided and snacking cravings dampened.

Redusure

Redusure is the central ingredient in the XLS Medical Appetite Reducer tablet. Redusure is a compound derived from Amorphophallus Konjac, a perennial plant that grows from a large corm. It is native to warm tropical and subtropical climates in eastern Asia, such as Japan and parts of China. The root or corm of the plant is used in Asian cooking to create a flour and jelly and is found in a range of dishes and a variety forms including noodles. Certain extracts derived from, or found in, Konjac Root are used in weight loss products. For example, glucomannan is a product found in the dried corm that is now popular in diet supplements, while Redusure is a compound created using extracts from the Konjac Root.

Redusure is an odourless and tasteless white powder. It is claimed to create the feeling of fullness after eating and give a sense of satiety, which controls the appetite. This is supposedly achieved through gastric enlargement. The compound is said to swell in the stomach, promoting the feeling of satiety without having any metabolic, pharmacological or immunological action or effect on the body. It is rich in dietary fibre, which is thought to give it the swelling and bulk forming capabilities. This dietary fibre is also highly viscous. The fibres absorb water and swell to form a thick, indigestible gel.

The actions of the Redusure compound are said to be increased gastric enlargement and delayed gastric emptying. In weight-loss terms, delayed gastric emptying simply refers to the slowing of the process of food moving from the stomach to the intestine. This means that the stomach contains food for a longer period of time than usual, potentially helping the user to feel fuller for longer.

Key XLS Medical Appetite Reducer Ingredients

molecular 538

XLS Medical Appetite Reducer contains only one active ingredient, which is believed to bring about the appetite suppressing effects discussed in the section above. This is a patented substance known as Redusure.

Redusure

The key ingredient in XLS Medical Appetite Reducer is Redusure, a highly water soluble extract derived from the Amorphophallus Konjac plant. As discussed in the ‘Clinical Studies’ section below, a number of studies have shown positive results with Konjac Root (Glucomannan) for appetite suppression if sufficient doses are taken. Unfortunately it has not been revealed exactly how much of this compound is found in each dose of XLS Medical Appetite Reducer.

Clinical Studies

Clinical Researcher 538

It is useful when considering clinical trials to know exactly what the term encompasses. Clinical trials are tests to find information about the safety and efficacy of health inventions such as medical procedures or newly developed drugs. Such trials or studies generally involve volunteers or patients being involved in pilot studies and experiencing the product or procedure with the effects and outcomes monitored.

Omega Pharma is a company that specialises in over-the-counter products, rather than those that require a prescription. While over-the-counter products do go through testing, they do not require the same level of rigour and proof as those that contain pharmaceutical drugs and need a medical prescription in order to be purchased by consumers.

Omega Pharma do not list details of specific clinical studies for each of their products. They claim the effects of their products are clinically proven but do not always share this information with consumers. While XLS Medical Fat Binder has been the subject of two specific clinical studies, plus two separate studies on two if its ingredients, the other products in the XLS Medical range do not have similar numbers of studies. Both the XLS Medical Carbohydrate Blocker and the XLS Medical Appetite Reducer only have studies on individual ingredients. The Carbohydrate Blocker has two such studies, while the Appetite Reducer has only one.

The central ingredient to XLS Medical Appetite Reducer is Redusure, a compound from Amorphophallus Konjac (also known as Konjac Root or Glucomannan). InQpharm, a pharmaceutical firm that researches and develops compounds for a variety of uses, manufactures Redusure. InQpharm owns the trademarked product Redusure and has the right to manufacture and distribute it worldwide. Clinical studies have been performed on this ingredient and it is one of these studies to which Omega Pharma refers on its XLS Medical website.

Redusure

The clinical study described on the official website was not actually of Redusure, but rather of glucomannan fibres more generally. It was a randomised, placebo-controlled, double blind study published in the International Journal of Obesity in the United States in 1984.

The study took place over eight weeks and measured the mean, or average, weight loss in kilograms of 20 obese patients. One group of 10 took a one gram supplement of glucomannan fibre (from Konjac Root) while the other group of 10 were given a placebo. The two 500mg capsules were taken with water one hour before each of three meals per day. The mean weight loss for those taking the diet supplement was a loss of 2.5kg whereas those taking the placebo tablet gained 0.45kg. Those taking this ingredient lost weight, while those taking a placebo gained weight. This group also saw reduced levels of cholesterol and did not report any adverse reactions.

A number of other studies and tests of glucomannan/Konjac Root have also indicated positive weight loss results, though XLS Medical does not refer specifically to these. It should be noted there is no information on the levels of glucomannan used in the XLS Medical Appetite Reducer. It is not clear how much Redusure or glaucomannan is actually in each of the capsules. Therefore it is not possible to judge whether taking XLS Medical Appetite Reducer would actually have the same effect as in the 1984 clinical trial.

XLS Medical Appetite Reducer Side Effects

Woman With Stomach Ache 538

XLS Medical Appetite Reducer is stimulant free. Unlike many diet pills, there are no stimulant ingredients, such caffeine, which may cause anxiety, jitters, shakes, or other similar side effects. However, while the manufacturers claim there are no known side effects, users of products that contain similar ingredients have reported problems. Diet supplements that contain compounds or extracts from or related to the Konjac Root, as is the case with XLS Medical Appetite Reducer, have been said to cause stomach problems, including cramps and the feeling of being bloated.

According to the XLS Medical website, certification as Medical Devices Class IIb means the products have passed rigorous safety tests according to international standards. The manufacturers believe that the fact that the products are medical devices, rather than medicines, ensures both their efficacy and safety, therefore ensuring fewer or no side effects. Omega Pharma claims that its medical devices are better and safer for the body because they work mechanically rather than pharmacologically.

We cannot be sure of the precise side effects of this product because it has not been subject to any clinical studies. We are also not told precisely how much glucomannan is present in each capsule.

There is however reason to believe that XLS Medical Appetite Reducer could have side effects due to its key ingredient. There have been reports of minor side effects by users of products that contain similar ingredients. These have all been related to the abdomen, such as stomach cramps, gas and bloating. While no users have yet reported these side effects from using the XLS Medical Appetite Reducer tablets, this product contains Redusure, which is an extract derived from Amorphophallus Konjac, also known as Konjac Root, and has been associated with adverse effects.

Redusure

It should be noted that there are a few dangers to the Konjac Root; it should not be consumed as a gel. The United States has actually banned the sale of these gels. When the root comes into contact with water it turns into a non-digestible gel. Diet pills will usually be made of capsules that do not dissolve on contact with water (it is very important to take the tablets with water) and will not open until they are inside the stomach. This should prevent the pills from expanding in the throat and choking the consumer. There have also been reports of the substance causing intestinal blockages. Cases such as these are very rare and have not been connected to XLS Medical Appetite Reducer, however, users should not take broken or damaged capsules.

How to Use

Woman With Pills 538

The process is that you take one XLS Medical Appetite Reducer pill before each meal. It is recommended this be twice or three times a day. The patented ingredient, Redusure is high in dietary fibre and supposedly swells up to 50 times its normal size when coming into contact with water. Therefore, it is recommended to drink extra water while taking these tablets, as well as for general health benefits.

The manufacturers of XLS Medical Appetite Reducer and a number of consumers recommend that the product be taken in conjunction with a low calorie diet and regular physical activity. However, there are certain groups of people for whom the pill is not recommended. In particular this includes pregnant or nursing mothers, people under the age of 18, people with gastro-intestinal conditions or difficulties swallowing, and those who already have a low BMI.
