XLS Medical vs. Adios
This is made even more confusing when trying to decide what brands and what claims to trust.
Adios is another well-known product that has been on the market for several years, however, its sales pitch depends upon the reputation and blind faith of traditional medicine, rather than any scientific evidence or claims of efficiency. This review will compare the two products by looking at the weight loss claims made, customer feedback, the price, as well as how each product works.
XLS Medical vs. Adios – Active Ingredients
The primary active ingredient of XLS Medical is the patented Litramine™, which is derived from dried prickly pear leaves. XLS Medical also has added fat-soluble vitamins, which are intended to replace any fat soluble vitamins that cannot be absorbed due to the nature of the diet pill. Opuntia Ficus Indica, the plant that Litramine™ is derived from, has been clinically proven to lower blood cholesterol levels, and therefore reduce cardiovascular risk. The claims that are made about Litramine™, and the clinical trials that support these claims, are discussed in more detail below, as well as elsewhere on the official Litramine website.
Adios places much emphasis on the fact that it uses herbal ingredients that have traditionally been used as slimming aids and in home remedies. The actual ingredients are given, but well hidden within the frequently asked questions tab of the web page. Dandelion roo, dry extract of Boldo Leaf and Butternut Bark are listed amongst the active ingredients, but it is indicated that dried extract of Fucas is the main ingredient, as this is the element that is available in higher doses in Adios Max. Fucas is a type of seaweed that has high levels of iodine, the role of which is discussed in more detail below.
XLS Medical vs. Adios – How Do They Work?
XLS Medical works by providing additional insoluble fibre that binds with dietary fat in the stomach. This fat-fibre complex becomes too large to pass through the walls of the small intestine, and so the altered fat passes through the body without being absorbed. This means that fewer calories are taken into the body, which, when combined with a healthy balanced diet and exercise, leads to a calorie deficit, and weight loss.
Litramine™ also provides additional soluble fibre, which, unlike insoluble fibre, is absorbed into the system. This element of the product is not well advertised by XLS Medical, but may act as a further contributor towards weight loss. This soluble fibre is the element that positively affects blood cholesterol levels. After this initial process, XLS Medical then releases fat soluble vitamins A, D3 and E-acetate, to prevent a deficiency in these, sometimes caused by this kind of diet pill.

In contrast to the XLS Medical website, the official Adios website provides surprisingly little information about the contents and nature of the product.
Adios does not actually explain what role each of its active ingredients fill in how they cause weight loss. However, each ingredient is easily researchable, with their traits well documented thanks to the internet. Dandelion root acts as a diuretic, causing increased urination and can contribute to slight dehydration. Butternut Bark is a mild laxative, which speeds up the digestive system, and can also contribute to dehydration. It may be that the use of a mild laxative may decrease the number of calories absorbed into the system through the intestines due to the increased speed that food would pass through the body, although depending upon the strength of the laxative, this would most likely be negligible. The combination of these two ingredients most likely causes a loss of water weight, and can make muscles seem more defined, as cells across the whole body are dehydrated.
The primary active ingredient is Fucus, a seaweed that is dried and contains high levels of iodine. It is thought that a deficiency of iodine can interfere with the productivity of the thyroid, which is thought to be linked with a healthy metabolism. Therefore in theory, raising the levels of iodine in the body should help to boost the metabolism, burning more calories and resulting in weight loss. In practice, however, it is thought that iodine deficiency in the UK is incredibly rare, and as such, the use of an iodine supplement is unlikely to have a great impact upon a person’s metabolic rate.

XLS Medical vs. Adios – How Effective Are They?
The official website of XLS Medical cites several studies as clinical proof of their effectiveness, and their statistics and claims are derived from these studies. XLS Medical claims to be able to bind up to 27% of dietary fats consumed in a meal, which prevents a significant number of consumed calories from being absorbed into the body. In addition to this, the makers of the pill make the dramatic claim that the use of XLS Medical causes 3 times as much weight loss as dieting alone. It is not clear in what context this claim is made, such as over what time period, for whom, and how this translates into actual pounds lost. As these statistics are based on clinical trials that are performed using very specific circumstances, these claims should be viewed as the optimal performance, which is somewhat difficult to reproduce in day to day circumstances. Results with fat binders will always be more prominent if use of the diet pills is combined with a balanced diet and exercise regime.
In contrast to this vast number of claims, no claims are made as to the level of results that can be expected from use of Adios. In fact, the makers of Adios make a lot of effort to specify that they cannot guarantee or promise any amount of weight loss, and especially cannot provide any numerical estimate as to the product’s efficiency. The fact that there is a more concentrated version of the product, Adios Max, suggests that Adios only has a mild impact on weight loss at most. Because of the dehydrating nature of the laxative and diuretic ingredients, it is highly likely that as soon as Adios is no longer being taken, some of the water weight previously lost will quickly return. It is also likely that the metabolic boosting effect of the ingredients is nominal at best, meaning that weight loss is unlikely to be in large amounts.
XLS Medical vs. Adios – Consumer Feedback
It is likely that the claims listed above, especially XLS Medical’s claim that it causes 3 times as much weight loss as dieting alone, have raised customers’ expectations considerably. According to our estimations based upon the reliable customer reviews we found, around 40% of XLS Medical users appear to feel conned or ripped off because of their lack of results, especially when considering the expense of the product. However, it is important to point out that some users of the pill have reported good results, and others have reported some weight loss, even though they were disappointed with the time it took to lose the weight.
Consumer feedback about Adios is mixed, but there are several red flags to be raised based upon the comments. Hair loss has been widely mentioned amongst consumers, with some users suggesting that this undesirable side effect starts within a few days of taking Adios. Many users have also noted that they did lose weight but that much of it returned almost immediately after stopping use of the slimming aid. This is most likely because of the diuretic effect of Adios, which provides temporary weight loss by preventing the body from retaining water.
XLS Medical vs. Adios – Side-Effects And Safety
XLS Medical is derived from a natural plant source and so there should be very few side effects, especially compared to chemical based diet pills. Despite claims that it is gentle on the system and doesn’t interfere with the “body’s natural workings”, reported side effects of XLS Medical include bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, headaches and even sickness. The possible causes for these side-effects are investigated fully elsewhere in our article on XLS Medical side-effects. It is recommended that to avoid some of these side effects, plenty of liquids are drunk as a part of a diet regime, and meals that are very high in fat are avoided or eaten only in moderation.

The safety of Adios as a weight loss aid is doubtable for several reasons. On the FAQs section of the official website there is an extensive list of people who should not take Adios. This raises concerns, especially as some of the exclusions are unusual compared with other diet pills. Because of the high iodine content of Adios, it is not suitable for people already taking other iodine based supplements.
Consumer feedback indicates that hair loss is a fairly common side effect, and yet the official website contains no warnings about side effects. Even the diuretic and laxative nature of the pill is ignored on the website, and offers no explanation of what to expect when taking the diet pill. The laxative and diuretic effects of the pill may help to cause temporary weight loss, but they also raise concerns about the health of the user, especially as they can both cause dehydration. As being well hydrated is loosely connected with a healthily operating body, including metabolism, it may be that being constantly slightly dehydrated may actually slow the metabolism and therefore hinder weight loss efforts.
Further to this, there are no clinical trials that have studied the safety or weight loss ability of Adios or its counterpart, Adios Max. This means that there is no evidence that Adios actually works, her than results from consumer feedback, which makes it much harder to recommend Adios as a weight loss product.

XLS Medical vs. Adios – How Much Do They Cost?
Adios is available at a large number of retailers, pharmacies and supermarkets, as well as widely online. Its cost is typically much lower than other diet pills, at around the £10 mark for a pack of 100 tablets. However, considering how ineffective Adios is as a diet pill, as well as the lack of clinical evidence to back it as a slimming aid, it is most likely that this seemingly nominal cost is still a waste of money.
XLS Medical is available at a large variety of retailers, including Boots and Asda, as well as at online retailers such as Amazon. The price for XLS medical varies immensely, with 180 tablets, which is a month’s supply, costing £59.99 in Boots, although it can be found cheaper elsewhere. This puts XLS medical amongst the more expensive diet pills available, especially considering that they only claim to hold one weight loss element, fat binding. With XLS Medical, it is definitely best to shop around to avoid paying over the odds. Even with this level of expense, it seems that XLS Medical offers better value for money than Adios.
In the comparison between XLS Medical and Adios, it is easy to see that XLS Medical is the superior product in every sense. It is not possible to recommend Adios without further information about the product being made available, especially about the amounts of the active ingredients, their strength, and any clinical trials that may have been performed to test this product.
XLS Medical may have its limitations, and is an expensive product, but it still has the backing of clinical trials to suggest that it may be somewhat effective in binding fat and contributing to weight loss by causing a calorie deficit. Ultimately, it is impossible to recommend Adios, as it is a product with a very limited effect upon weight loss, and no proof as to its safety. As an herbal remedy it has fallen into the category of supplement, but this does not automatically mean that it is a safe product that will not affect the body.
